Some words from band member, Ian Wallace:
“The Brown Notes (formerly Boognish Rooster)
We’ve got a new name: The Brown Notes. The band is comprised of Ian(guitar, vocals, harmonica), Olaf (guitar, vocals) and Koz (cajon, percussion) We’ve recently played as a trio under a couple of names including Beer Thousand (an homage to Guided By Voices) and most recently Boognish Rooster (a Ween/GBV blend). We’ve changed our name to reflect more of a focus on our original music, With 2 acoustics, 2 vocalists and a slew of originals as well as our favourite GBV and WEEN songs, we’ll assail you with non-stop music, and songs that few others play. We’ve been told our harmonies are beatlesque, and that’s one of the best compliments you can get. We’ll be playing The Casbah one more time for some day drinking and music. And I was already going to be at the Casbah for the following act….. (leads into LOFI show)”
